What We Do
The Outdoor Center is home to a full-service rental and retail facility, a lounge, an outdoor resource library, and a trip planning area. We invite you to come rent gear, plan a trip, and improve your climbing skills at the next-door climbing wall. The lounge serves as a central meeting space for Stanford community members who are interested in outdoor adventures.
The Outdoor Center does not rent Alpine Downhill Skis or Snowboard Equipment. We do rent cross country touring and backcountry skis and snowshoes. For Alpine Down Hill Equipment contact Sports Basement in Sunnyvale or Redwood City, or The Ski Renter in Mountain View.
*Please note: All monetary/rental transactions must be processed during Equipment Rental Shop operation hours.
Location
The Outdoor Center is located at the entrance of the Arrillaga Outdoor Education and Recreation Center at 285 Santa Teresa St, next to Roble Field. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Access
The Outdoor Center is open to all Stanford Affiliates with access to our recreation facilities. You need a valid Stanford ID or recreation access card to enter the building. To check your access, please visit this page: https://rec.stanford.edu/access

Closures and Hour Changes
- Thanksgiving Break: November 25-29, 2019
- Holiday Break: December 23, 2019 – January 3, 2020
The Outdoor Center will close for business at the above time. Customers renting or returning equipment 30 minutes or less prior to closure will be asked to return the following business day and will be subject to late fees if applicable.
The Outdoor Center Staff reserve the right to close the Center on an as-needed basis. The times listed above are subject to change based on special events. Feel free to call us at 650-736-7768 if you have a question. If we are not available, please leave a message and our staff will return your call during our open hours.
